Laurence is a Sussex based clarinettist and teacher, having graduated from Trinity Laban and the Hochschule für Musik Frankfurt am Main with First Class Honours and Distinction respectively. The day following his final Master’s performance exam in Frankfurt, he auditioned for and won the Klarinettenpraktikant (placement) position with Philharmonisches Orchester Gießen, holding the role and performing with them for their 2024–25 season at Stadttheater Gießen.
Since returning to the UK, Laurence now enjoys a varied freelance career. He regularly performs with orchestras in the UK and Germany, enjoys giving solo and chamber music recitals, and has appeared in international festivals, including the International Festival of Kraków Composers in Poland. A passionate educator, Laurence enjoys teaching students of all ages and is a regular teacher at Junior Trinity. He is delighted to join EYSM as a tutor in 2026.
